Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare Remembers Val J. Halamandaris and His Incredible Contributions to Home Healthcare

WASHINGTON – It is with gratitude and respect that the entire Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare offers our sincere condolences in memory of the late Val J. Halamandaris. His loving memory will live on through his family, his work and the home healthcare he served for more than five decades.

Val’s journey through Washington was a long and memorable one—he dedicated his career to improving the lives of our nation’s most vulnerable citizens. He was the original home healthcare advocate, fighting for the older Americans, individuals with disability and others who couldn’t always fight for themselves—and achieving immensely.

Val was instrumental in the creation the home health benefit in Medicaid and Medicare as well as federal standards for nursing home care. As the founder and president of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice, he stood as the biggest protector, strongest fighter and loudest voice for 33,000 home care and hospice organizations, as well as the millions of Americans who depend on their care. The Partnership will deeply miss Val and remember his decades of dedication fondly.

“Yesterday we had to say goodbye to the nation’s biggest home healthcare champion,” said Keith Myers, Chairman of the Partnership. “He will always serve as the ultimate example of home healthcare advocacy. We are all better for having known such a remarkable man and benefit from his incredible contributions to our community.”

The Partnership will carry on Val’s legacy by continuing to strive for quality home healthcare for Americans. Our absolute support remains with the NAHC community, and we send our full condolences to his family, colleagues and others close to him. Val’s life fighting for the 12 million older, disabled and ill Americans will never be forgotten.
