Lawmakers and Their Letters, As We Head Into Reg Season

There are a whole host of final rules set to come out of CMS this month, and that means lawmakers and others are weighing in. A few of our favorites so far this week:
A whopping 133 lawmakers are freaking out about CMS’s proposed value-based payment system for home health agencies, saying the agency is pushing for “too much too fast” in the mandatory alternative payment model for these services. It’s set to take effect in January in Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, North Carolina, Tennessee and Washington. The proposal is similar to the controversial bundling of hip and knee surgery payments, though one that’s gotten far less attention. Lawmakers are also pushing back on proposed cuts to home health centers, saying that they are based on a case mix that’s out of date. The letter: http://bit.ly/1iuNWnI
