CMS Finalizes Home Health Value-Based Purchasing, Doesn’t Change Behavioral Adjustment

CMS on Tuesday (Nov. 2) finalized an expansion of the Home Health Value-Based Purchasing Program, which some providers support. But the agency did not change behavioral adjustment cuts under the revamped pay system as providers had asked — though the Partnership For Quality Home Healthcare said the uptick in the home health pay rate for 2022 is an improvement.
“While we continue to have concerns over the implementation of the behavioral adjustment cuts, the slight uptick in the payment rate for 2022 takes a modest step in recognizing the increased labor costs home health providers are continuing to experience,” said Joanne Cunningham, executive director of the partnership, in a statement.
