Bill to prevent $20 billion cut to home healthcare could affect 60,000 Alabamians

Legislation to prevent home health service companies from losing $20 billion over the next decade in cuts from Medicare reimbursement – which could affect tens of thousands of Alabamians – has been introduced by Reps. Terri Sewell (AL-07) and Adrian Smith (NE-03).

Called the “Preserving Access to Home Health Act,” H.R. 5159 will restrict the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) from enacting a 9.36% payment cut to home healthcare companies in 2024, on top of a 3.9% cut this year.
