It’s been called a “Silver Tsunami,” but its reach extends far beyond Oregon’s 360 miles of breathtaking coastline. This storm reaches into every corner of the state – challenging infrastructure that thousands upon thousands of Oregon seniors depend on.
Oregon’s aging population is booming everywhere, in small communities and urban centers, across both rural and urban counties. Although the entire nation is seeing something similar, in Oregon, the 65-and-older population is growing faster than the national average – likely due, in part, to our growing popularity as a retirement destination.
However, what hasn’t grown at the same rate is the critical healthcare infrastructure to support the needs of our increasingly older population. Quality home healthcare is a wildly popular, cost-effective Medicare benefit that allows seniors to age in place, where they want to be. It has proven to be incredibly successful in helping patients manage chronic conditions, recover from serious illness or injury, and forgo expensive and unwanted hospital visits.
