Lawmakers are Home for August Recess. Make Sure They Hear from You!
Your lawmakers are home for August recess, and they need to hear from constituents like you about issues that affect their districts and states!
As a home health advocate, it is critical that you make your lawmakers aware of the proposed cuts to Medicare home health services and the legislation that can protect our most vulnerable seniors’ care.
In its HHPPS Proposed Role for 2020, Medicare suggests an 8.01% base rate reduction adjustment, which would translate to a $1.298 billion reduction in home health payments in 2020 alone. Significant cuts of this nature could result in harmful service disruptions for the more than 3.5 million American seniors relying on Medicare home health services.
Fortunately, lawmakers have taken action to protect home health by introducing the bipartisan Home Health Payment Innovation Act (S.433 & H.R. 2573), but we must continue to build momentum and additional co-sponsors for these bills.
You can take action on this vital issue in 3 ways:
- Send an email to your lawmakers asking them to co-sponsor the Home Health Payment Innovation Act (S.433 & H.R. 2573)
- Tweet at your lawmakers asking them to #SaveHomeHealth
- Submit a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about this important legislation.
