Washington, DC– The Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare – a coalition of home health providers dedicated to improving the integrity, quality, and efficiency of home healthcare for our nation’s seniors – today congratulated Tom Price (R-GA) on his confirmation as the next Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). As a physician, Secretary Price has been a longtime advocate for the home health and hospice communities, continually championing policy reforms to strengthen the delivery of quality care to one of Medicare’s most vulnerable patient populations.

“The Partnership looks forward to working with Secretary Price and the leadership at HHS to improve access to skilled home healthcare by providing much-needed regulatory relief to Medicare rules that are currently restricting access to vitally important home health services,” stated Colin Roskey, Executive Vice President of the Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare. “His track record as a physician and member of Congress demonstrates his proven commitment to protecting America’s home health patients.”

“We congratulate Secretary Price on his well-deserved confirmation and stand ready to work with him in his new role to continue to better the lives of Medicare home health beneficiaries,” added Roskey. “His recognition of the value home healthcare adds to the larger healthcare continuum stands to improve patient care and reduce Medicare costs.”

Currently, 3.5 million Americans receive the Medicare home health benefit, which is widely regarded as clinically advanced, cost effective and patient preferred.
